My mom told me a while ago that some of her best friends were her deceased ancestors. What a funny way to make friends! Well, fast forward to the pandemic of 2020 and I was in desperate need of friends - quarantine life will do that to you! As I searched and prayed for ways to get out of this rut, the thought came to me that I needed to learn more about my ancestors. My ancestors would make great friends because they literally aren't going anywhere and are always accessible.
As I tried to figure out what this research would look like for me, inspiration hit! I would learn about an ancestor, their life experiences, and then make a meal or recipe to honor who they were and what they mean to me. Incorporating food into family history is a win in my book!
Making meals is something I enjoy doing for my family every day. We feel both joy and calm to sit together each night for a good meal and to talk about our day. What an incredible way to honor my ancestors by learning about them, making a meal to honor them and sharing what I learn with others.
So let's start this journey! I can't wait to introduce you to my amazing family and make new friends along the way. Plus I'll get to share some fun meals and recipes with you too.
Enjoy!!
Lori
